No one discussed the cost of the services or equipment with me beforehand. I was not adequately informed about pricing prior to receiving the hearing aids and associated testing. I paid more than $5,250 for a pair of hearing aids that are available over the counter and can reportedly be purchased online for approximately $1800. Of course it needs to be programmed first. Other providers, such as Costco, offer complimentary audiometry testing and hearing aid maintenance, including free replacement in the event of loss (up to certain limits) at a fraction of the cost. I had significant cerumen (ear wax) buildup in my right eari, which prevented visualization of the tympanic membrane. This issue was missed by the audiometrist at the Lake Forest Hearing Center. The wax should have been removed prior to ordering or fitting hearing aids. They do unnecessary tests just to charge you. It's a rip off and I would avoid this place. The staff were very polite, courteous and professional.

I can’t say enough good things about the front staff—they were absolutely amazing. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warmth and professionalism. They were helpful, organized, and made the whole experience smooth and stress-free, from scheduling to check-out. It’s rare to find a place where both the clinical care and customer service are this outstanding. I’m truly grateful for the kindness, efficiency, and expertise of the entire team. Highly recommend!

This place is in the business of changing lives! I nicknamed them the miracle workers! They are so attentive to every question I have and couldn’t be more fair, reasonable, and efficient. They are so good about insurance, clarity, and there’s never a surprise charge. They are also just wonderful people who love doing what they do. I have sent so many friends their way, and they all feel the same. They are the best and i can hear so much better!!!

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Duet Lake Forest Hearing office. I was very impressed with the staff from beginning to end. The audiologist, Dr. Rachel Lowrance, was very professional and knowledgeable. She took the time to not only explain results and options, but to also listen to my concerns. She helped me develop the best plan of action for me. The hearing aids she recommended are great. I would highly recommend this place and her.

I was very impressed with Duet - Lake Forest Hearing. The staff was very friendly from beginning to end. The audiologist, Rachel Lowrance was very kind and knowledgeable. But way beyond, is the amount of knowledge and state of the art equipment and research that they use to be true ambassadors of healthy hearing. I had just arrived in Chicago after a four hour drive from Indiana. As I removed my hearing aids, the dome on the left remained in my ear! In the morning I called Lake Forest Hearing Professionals and explained my dilemma. Rachel promised to alert the Northfield staff that I needed to be in Evanston for an 11:00 appointment. No problem, Christina told me upon arrival at 10:15! Dr. Brennan was able to remove the dome and I was well on my way to be on time. Everyone was so welcoming and hospitable! I shall remember their goodness to me with great gratitude!

Went for a hearing test and was charged $275 for an audiogram and then $250 to program my hearing aids. The audiologist recommended that I get a more recent model than my Phonak. She recommended that I go with Widex. I asked the cost and she said $8,000. After she stepped out and came back I asked her if the Widex hearing aids I found online for $2200 were the same pair, she said they were. She thought they were from Canada and she then stated that hearing aids are "heavily taxed" in the US. Turns out the company is located in Florida. Heavily taxed????????? After further research it turns out that Widex is ranked fourth on the list of hearing aid manufacturers, with Phonak being number one. I would avoid this place unless you like to over pay. Update: I paid for the service in full on the same day. They then billed Medicare and received a second payment and demanded the balance that Medicare did not pay. I am now looking into reporting Medicare fraud.

During my recent visit for a hearing test, I had the pleasure of consulting with Dr. Lori Ann Halverson at their new office in Lake Forest, situated in a prestigious neighborhood. The office's ambiance exudes cleanliness and spaciousness, providing a comfortable environment for patients. Dr. Halverson conducted a comprehensive hearing evaluation, meticulously explaining the potential consequences of hearing loss. The office staff, particularly Rachel, demonstrated utmost professionalism and efficiency in handling follow-ups and insurance coordination. Within a fortnight, Rachel informed me of the insurance approval and promptly scheduled an appointment for the hearing aid fitting the subsequent day. Upon my arrival, Rachel warmly welcomed me, and Dr. Halverson promptly attended to my needs. Dr. Halverson skillfully navigated the intricate process of fitting the hearing aid, making it appear effortless despite its technical complexity. The programming was completed expeditiously, ensuring a swift and efficient consultation.

Duet/Lake Forest Hearing has been an absolutely wonderful experience. My father has had increasingly worse hearing difficulties for the past few years, but was reluctant to go to a hearing doctor because he is very particular about avoiding the digital sounds that come with most hearing aids (likely due to his long history of being a musician). Not only does Duet carry the best analog hearing aids on the market, but they have also always been extremely attentive to my father’s sensitivity to sounds. Dr. Halvorson and her team take a vastly different approach to both practicing audiology and educating their patients so they can restore their hearing while also understanding how to prevent it from decline. 10/10 stars: we have been coming here for several years and will continue to recommend them to anyone looking for a hearing doctor.

I recently had an appointment at the new lake forest location and I was very impressed by the expectational service provided by the entire staff. It is evident that Duet Hearing prioritizes patient care above all else. They took the time to understand my goals and concerns and I have learned so much from them about the importance of preserving my hearing and the link between hearing and the brain. I have had these very expensive ($8000.00) hearing aids for a few years. When I went for supplies they said that I needed another hearing test and memory test which makes no sense since I am 80 and most likely don’t remember details ( which has nothing to do with my hearing). They didn’t tell me that they were charging me for each test. Upon examining my ears she said that only one ear had some ear wax which she removed in about 2 minutes (I later found that they charged me $75.00 to do that which was outrageous) Then they cleaned my hearing aids (another $75.00-outrageous) and several other tests that didn’t need to be performed. She changed several settings and now they don’t work as well as before. So they ended up charging me $460.00 (a so called reduced rate) which my insurance doesn’t cover. Obviously I will NEVER BE GOING BACK. Try someone else who doesn’t scam you for your hard earned money.

I had struggled with what I came to understand as hearing loss over the course of a few years. I had a very hard time hearing full conversation when there was background noise, like a busy restaurant or traffic. This made it more difficult to have experiences in public places and made me feel more isolated, especially when I was with groups of people. Dr. Halvorson and her staff at Lake Forest Hearing helped me identify the problem and got me the care I needed. The improvement in quality of life was immediately tangible. With the prescribed hearing aids, I could experience life more fully, even having business meetings outside next to train tracks without missing a beat. The technology is amazing and connects your hearing aids to your phone where you can manage the settings and even use Bluetooth for calls or music.

Place tied to take me for $6,000 I have insurance and yet after a long and arduous discussion about how much it would cost they told me that my deductible would be enough to cover hearing aids again place is a rip-off they tried to take me for $6,000 for hearing aids that cost $1,500 highly un recommended place is a rip-off

I and my husband Michael are customers of Lake Forest Hearing for 16+years. Dr. Lory Halvorson and her staff are very professional and treat us as a family. We bought 3 pairs of hearing aids with them. They provided multiple comprehensive hearing tests and work very hard in process of testing, fitting and adjusting our hearing aids. We highly recommend them.

Although I have a hearing loss, Lake Forest Hearing did not try to sell me hearing aids. I was told that hearing aids would not correct my problem. I really appreciated their honesty. And the exam was very thorough.

The service is typically very good. I am always a little surprised that I am seeing a new audiologist, or at least I hope they're an audiologist, with no warning. I started with Dr. Halvorsen but have seen several other people since. I find it annoying that they are routinely 15-30 minutes behind schedule. The other day I showed up 10 minutes late and still had to wait 20 minutes.

I am a professional musician. I have had tinnitus since 1990 and hearing loss since the eighties. I am only 60 years old and have had trouble hearing conversation and other sounds I didn't realize I was missing. Dr. Halvorson helped me find the perfect hearing aids for me. Ever since I put them in I have done nothing but smile. I can hear conversations, televisions, nature, enjoy theater and more. The service, expertise, and product selection is nothing short excellent. I highly recommend the Lake Forest Hearing Professionals!

If I recall correctly I had bought 5 pairs in the past 20 yrs trying to achieve what Lake Forest Hearing did for me in two hours. A lot of my loss is due to 12 of fireing weapons in the Service.
